There are those awkward moments when you just meet your teammates, and you don't know what to say. Icebreakers are great and all, but add a couple of these games to spice things up, and you'll be laughing in no time!
1.Ghost in the Graveyard
Objective: To be the last one not caught by the “ghost”
How to Play: One person is the “ghost”, who will walk around the room and try to get the other players to move. If a player moves while the ghost’s eyes are on them, they are out. While the ghost’s back is turned, the players can move as much as they want, but if the ghost turns around, they must freeze.
Rules:
-The ghost cannot touch someone to get them to laugh.
-Blinking is okay.
-If the ghost catches another player moving, they’re out.
-The ghost chooses the next ghost for the next round of play.
2. Photo Scavenger Hunt
Objective: To complete the most activities
How to Play: Divide the players into teams. Each team should have a list of things to do. Send them out to complete their activities, and come together at the end.
Rules:
-Each team needs a camera/phone.
-Once the time is up, all teams must come back to their starting point.
-Award points for creativity, style, closest to the original list, etc.
3. Bunny Bunny
Objective: To be the last one in the circle
How to Play: Players stand in a circle. The first player has the “bunny.” So they pass it on. They doing this by opening and closing their hands puppet-style by saying, “Bunny bunny” with their hands facing themselves. They then point their hands at another player and say “bunny bunny” again. That player now has the bunny. They will then repeat and pass the bunny to another player.
Rules:
-The two people on the other side of the person who receives the bunny dance around them and say, “Oom chicka oom chicka oom chicka oom.”
-Keep the rhythm going.
-The game speeds up with each round.
4. The Encorange
Objective: To encourage each other as a team.
How to Play: The first person begins by holding an orange. They then choose another player, and throw the orange to them. When the other person catches the orange, the first player showers them with encouragement. Then the next player passes the orange on.
5. FFEACH
Objective: To correctly act out each of the words on the instructor’s list.
How to Play: FFEACH stands for Fast Food, Electrical Appliances, Cartoon Heroes. This is a charades game where the first person in each team runs up to the instructor and gets their first word. They run back to the team and try to act it out. Once the team makes a guess, they send up a volunteer to the instructor to get their new word. If the word is correct, they get a new one.
Rules:
-The actor can’t tell their team if the word is right or wrong. They just keep acting.
-The team who makes it to the end of the list first wins
6. Snaug’s Jewel
Objective: To capture the jewel from the “snaug”
How to Play: One player is the snaug, armed with a pool noodle. While other players try to capture the “jewel” (which can be a ball or a small item), the snaug will try to tap players with the pool noodle, freezing them in place. Once frozen, they can’t move until touched on the hand by another teammate.
Rules:
-The snaug and jewel stay inside a central circle. All other players can move.
-Players can collaborate to get the jewel.
-If time runs up before the jewel is taken, the snaug wins.
